April 13, 2024 - Great Lakes National Cemetery Headstone Cleaning

Each year, the Great Lakes National Cemetery hosts volunteer headstone cleaning days. Volunteers are vital to ensuring the final resting places of military service members are maintained and properly honored. Please consider joining them as they continue to honor the lives, sacrifices and service of those who came before us.

Check-in and Registration: 9:30am, registration tables will be at the maintenance building

What to bring: 5 Gallon Bucket, Soft Scrub Brush
Details: Sections will be assigned at the time of registration, please register online at the e-mail address 
below. If you have a loved one or friend resting at Great Lakes National Cemetery and would like to be 
assigned to their section, please include that information when registering online as well as the number

August 24 - 16th Annual Golf Outing - Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council
Where: Lapeer Country Club (3786 Hunt Rd. Lapeer, MI 48446
When: Registration opens at 7am, with 8am shotgun start 
Cost: $125 per person, $500 per team
Cost includes: Continental Breakfast (Coffee & Donuts), 18 hole game with golf cart, snacks at the turn, and dinner & beverages. Prizes awarded at conclusion. Prizes include $10,000 hole-in-one contest, closest to the pin and Longest Drive (men & women)

Fort Custer VA National Cemetery

The Fort Custer VA National Cemetery is located in Kalamazoo County, Mich. and is the resting place to many service members. The VFW Department of Michigan has a representative on the cemetery's advisory committee to keep our community up to date on events, changes and news with the cemetery.
