The Department of Michigan is committed to promoting the
career exploration, educational, training & employment needs of veterans while striving to ensure
their veteran rights and benefits. The Department of Michigan is hosting an

VOW to Hire Heroes Act
"Congress passed, and the President has signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes
Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance
Program (VRAP) for unemployed Veterans. The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA)
and the Department of Labor (DoL) are working together to roll out this new
program on July 1, 2012. The new program will provide retraining for Veterans
hardest hit by current economic conditions."

Veteran’s Workforce Investment Program (VWIP) is a program that addresses the
unique needs of veterans seeking employment, training, job counseling and
related services and to develop and promote maximum employment opportunities for
eligible veterans."

"Job Corps offers
hands-on training to eligible 16- through 24-year-olds in America's
fastest-growing careers."..." Veterans receive priority enrollment at all
Job Corps centers. While they may attend any Job Corps center in the nation,
there are three centers that offer dorm areas exclusively for veterans."
VGJ currently has programs in operation or development
in four states and anticipates tripling the number of veterans we serve in
2010. VGJ has three main program areas that encompass the rapidly growing
portfolio of projects that embody VGJ’s mission in action: service
transition, education, and enterprise. Enhancing all VGJ programs are
comprehensive veterans development services. Together with our network of
partners, we are developing a successful warrior reintegration process that
offers comprehensive personal and professional development."
