2008-2009 POLITICAL ACTION PROGRAM

The Political Action Committee enables us as members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to become effective in supporting candidates that have pledged or promised their support to promote legislation relative to Veterans Entitlements and our National Defense.  These candidates include the United States Senate and House of Representatives. There are over 4,000 PAC’s in the United States today and in one rating last year the Veterans of Foreign Wars was rated in the top 20 in the ability to promote their viewpoints.

No dues monies are used for the operation of PAC, so your donations are of vital importance to the continuing operation of our PAC.  Michigan has always been proud of our PAC donations.  This year will be better yet because the ladies are also participating.

Each District Commander will be issued 5 PAC pins for each Post in his/her District along with record sheets for each Post.  Each District Commander will be responsible for his/her District becoming 100% and the Department Chairman will communicate with them on a regular basis.  PAC cutoff date for credit will be April 30, 2009.

Awards for PAC Donations:

One Michigan PAC pin will be given for each donation of $5.00 or more

Any Post or Auxiliary that makes a total donation of $100.00 or more will receive a certificate and any Post that donates $500.00 will receive a PAC Plaque.

If a Post or Auxiliary has a donation of $1,000.00 or more, they receive a PAC Golden Eagle Award.

Five (5) points for the first $25.00 the Post donates to PAC, then one (1) point per $25.00 up to $100.00 - maximum eight (8) points.

For each $25.00 donation, the Post will receive 1 credit each in Americanism, Community Service and Legislation.  The Department Activities Report will have the total amount donated by the Post.  Make sure you have included your name, address, city, zip and your Post or Auxiliary number with your donations.

The State and National PAC Committee thanks you for your support and hope you continue to support PAC in this coming year.  All donations must be sent to the PAC director at the address listed below!

All PAC checks must be mailed to Department Headquarters!  Make checks payable to:  Department of Michigan VFW and earmark for PAC.

Points will be awarded in the All-State Program for reporting PAC donations.
