A Profile of the VFW
Veterans have amazing experiences & stories that
need to be told. They have lived history and are able to add a human perspective
to events that have shaped our country.
It is hoped this site can be a platform for those stories...

As you look out the
windows, it feels like you're floating, it feels like you're not moving, but
you're actually going 500 mph.. The U-2 was built to go higher than any other
aircraft. In fact today, more than 50 years since it went into production, the
U-2 flies higher than any aircraft in the world with the exception of the space
shuttle.

Henry Ford was determined that
he could mass produce bombers
just as he had done with cars.
He built the Willow Run assembly
plant and proved it. It was the
world's largest building under
one roof. Even then Ford had a
better idea !! It's amazing that
one B-24 (built with over 1.225
million parts) came off the
assembly line every 55 minutes.

Veteran's Experiences & Stories
7/6/2010
"The following is submitted by Jan Angers, wife of Bradford J. Angers
(WWII Veteran) born and raised in Michigan.
Brad's chance to serve his Country during
WWII was cut short when he had to return home from the
Philippines on the
Hospital Ship Hope with service connected injury. Looking at
his DD-214 will not show a silver Star,
Bronze Star or other medals of honor. He was just one of the
hundreds of thousands who did what was asked of them. They were not
the heroes that were paraded thru our home towns. They were just
Veterans.
That became his personal challenge. Following his separation
from the Army, he began a life of voluntary service to our Country
that has continued for over 60 years. It consisted of service to his
fellow veterans and working for several veterans organizations, as
well as volunteer service in
Veterans Hospitals in Texas and now in Florida.
Attached is a brief PowerPoint program of that service, then
and now. I have always heard that a picture was worth a thousand
words. I hope that the following will awaken a spirit of service in
other Veterans. (Open below with PowerPoint Reader)"
